I found this video on You Tube yesterday and joked with Frank Chiapperino on our CCV staff that we should try it sometime at church. For those of you who don't have any exposure to the nut balls throughout the four corners of the Christian community, what these guys are doing is what is called "Speaking in Tongues." Just watching this makes me want to bring back the Old Testament practice of stoning people.
Can you imagine going to a church that did this?

You didn't get it?
I thought it was obvious when he said 'Unim oloquity baruydie'. This was a video of the classic "Who's on First?" routine. Unfortunately, these men forgot to put their teeth back in. Makes it much more difficult to deliver the punchline.
The thing that struck me was everyone in the audience laughing along with them. Did they all understand what these two were "saying"?
I bet this is a church that would give you the boot for playing cards or listening to rock-n-roll music.
I found this somewhat funny, thank heaven this was done years ago!!! It also reminds me that keeping, "fire and brimstone," out of services can sometimes be more effective in delivering a message. It is good to laugh along with someone than laugh at them.
It reminds me of one of Todd's first encounters with church. He went to church camp with a friend of his and all the kids were told as soon as they spoke in tongues they could leave the auditorium and go make a key chain or some campish thing. Not having a clue as to what was happening, Todd sat there in stunned silence as everyone around him started jabbering. The counselors prayed over the kids who had not been filled with the Holy Spirit. Todd didn't even know what that was at the time, but he eventually caught on that if he just spoke a little gibberish he would be released to have fun.
Would you believe he never had another desire to go back to church camp??
Unfortunately I can, along with the thousands of people who go to his church and support his ministry. Hopeully we are able to reach out to them!
Do you think these guys went to Ohio State?
About six years ago a pastors wife was trying to "TEACH" me how to speak in tongues. It was very hard for me not to bust out laughing! Needless to say I am no longer attending that church.
I think they were clearly talking about the fiesta bowl . .is this for real?
I remember being horrified when I saw a show on TV where the guy touched the people and they all fell down. I thought people dies at church . . .
